Now that all of the classrooms have officially transitioned from Promethean Boards to TV's, I want to share with you how we can use them effectively for instruction.
How do I use my document camera?
Many teachers have asked, if they can use their document camera with their new TV's. The answer is yes, but only with the proper attachments. You will need to purchase a VGA to HDMI dongle. You can purchase one here, but make sure you have the proper length.
Another option is to use your iPad as your document camera. Many teachers use this method since its cheaper and easy to set up without the cords. You can either purchase a table mount aka "Goosenecks" or even use a portable locker shelf. All you have to do is open the camera app on your device and mirror it through your Apple TV. Here is the link to the one that I have purchased, Tablet Stand Holder. Some are really expensive and others are super cheap. Just make sure to check the sizes to make sure your iPad will fit your mount.
How can my TV become an Interactive Whiteboard?
A while ago, I made a Smore post about using interactive whiteboard apps such as IPEVO and ShowMe. There are others you can use as well called Doceri and Educreations. You basically use your iPad as a whiteboard and mirror it using your Apple TV. This is another great way to model for your students. You can check out more ideas here.
